Nicosia is where the work happens
Most of the authorities a business in Cyprus deals with sit in Nicosia: the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property, the headquarters of the Civil Registry and Migration Department, the Tax Department, the Department of Lands and Surveys, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, and the Nicosia District Court. Being a short drive from each of them means we can file, attend and follow up in person when that moves a matter forward, and work online when it does not.
For clients abroad this matters more than it sounds. A company filing, a permit application or a court step that stalls for weeks by correspondence is often resolved with one visit.
Litigation and property work across Cyprus
Our office is in Nicosia, but our work is not confined to it. We conduct litigation before the District Courts of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta, which sits in Paralimni, and we handle real estate purchases and sales anywhere in Cyprus, from due diligence and searches at the local District Lands Office through to contract, transfer and registration.
About half of our clients are based abroad and most of the rest are elsewhere in Cyprus. The whole engagement can run remotely: instructions by email, meetings by video, documents signed electronically where Cyprus law permits, and court, registry or Lands Office attendance handled by us wherever in Cyprus it is needed. English is the working language of the practice.
Our team
Connor Legal is a team of Cyprus lawyers, advocates registered with the Cyprus Bar Association, working in English and Greek across corporate, commercial, dispute, property and immigration matters. The firm is led by its founder and managing partner, Nicolas Connor Georgiades, an advocate and a barrister of England & Wales (Gray’s Inn), and every matter is supervised by a partner from the first call to completion.
Fees are agreed in advance and fixed where the work allows. You will know who is on your matter and what it will cost before we start.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a lawyer cost in Cyprus?
It depends on the work. For defined tasks such as a company formation, a property purchase or a permit application we quote a fixed fee in advance. For disputes and open-ended advisory work we agree an hourly rate and a budget, and we tell you before any budget is exceeded. There is no charge for sending us an enquiry.
Do I need to come to Nicosia?
Rarely. Most matters run entirely by email and video call. Where a signature in person, a court appearance or a registry visit is needed, we attend in Nicosia on your behalf or arrange a single visit.
Do you handle cases and property purchases outside Nicosia?
Yes. We appear before the District Courts of Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Paphos and Famagusta (Paralimni), and we act on real estate purchases and sales anywhere in Cyprus, including the searches and transfer at the local District Lands Office.
Do you act for clients from outside Cyprus?
Yes. A large part of our practice is for foreign businesses and individuals setting up, investing or resolving disputes in Cyprus, and for foreign law firms that need Cypriot counsel on a matter.
Which areas of law do you cover from Nicosia?
Commercial and corporate law, M&A, dispute resolution, tax, real estate and construction, employment, immigration, intellectual property, banking and finance, EU and competition law, maritime and personal injury.
