Independent Court Service and Re-engineering of Cyprus Court Registries

The Honourable Minister of Justice and Public Order, distinguished guests, and representatives from the European Commission and the Council of Europe gathered today to celebrate the completion of the Project for the Establishment of an Independent Courts Service and for the Re-engineering of the Court Registries in Cyprus.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in the ongoing effort to modernize Cyprus’ justice system. The project was based on the comprehensive report by Irish experts from Ireland’s Institute of Public Administration, which identified key issues and areas for reform in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Cyprus.

The establishment of an Independent Courts Service in Cyprus aims to relieve the Supreme Court of its administrative duties, allowing it to focus on its judicial functions. This crucial reform is expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Cypriot judiciary.

As part of the project, the re-engineering of court registries has been completed, streamlining the management of court documents and cases. This will contribute to a more transparent and accessible justice system for the citizens of Cyprus.

Today’s closing ceremony highlighted the project’s outcomes and main achievements. The expert speakers from the European Commission and the Council of Europe provided detailed presentations on the individual activities, outcomes, and main achievements of the project.

On behalf of the Supreme Court, the Honourable Minister of Justice and Public Order expressed sincere gratitude to the European Commission and the Council of Europe for their financial support, expert knowledge, and expertise throughout the project.

The successful completion of this project is a testament to Cyprus’ commitment to modernizing its justice system and enhancing the administration of justice for its citizens. The nation looks forward to the continued cooperation with international partners to further strengthen and improve its legal system.
